2006 CCFOA President’s Message

Wow another year has flown by and the start of the 2006 is close. On behalf of your Board, Assignors, and myself welcome to the 2006 season.

After several meetings the Board agrees that the following are the key areas of focus for the association this year:

  1. Continue to recruit new officials this is the critical to the future of the CCFOA. As such we will continue the program of giving a $20 gift certificate, maximum of 2 to each official that brings in a new official who attends the annual clinic. Have new officials contact Dave Jurkiewicz through the CCFOA website as he will again lead the training of new officials.

  2. Continued improvement for all officials in rules knowledge, mechanics, and overall game philosophy. A key part of this effort is the voluntary pre-season sessions that John Nardi will again lead. Please check the website for dates, time, and location.

  3. Ratings need to provide suggestions for improvement and reflect actual game performance. This year the official who is assigned as the R for the varsity game is considered the crew chief for both the JV and varsity games. The crew chief will be required to send via Arbiter comments on each official who works that night. Dave Cutaia will provide more details at the clinic.

  4. Missed meetings and the all day clinic are major concerns. These are the only training sessions we have and each official is required to fulfill a minimum number of hours training to qualify for play-offs. This year in addition to the fines if an official misses the all day clinic and/or two regular season meetingsthe Board will be able to remove that official from the 2006 play-off list. The meeting dates are on the website,  please plan on attending all of the meetings.

I believe we have the best association in Northern California and the reason for this is all of you and your hard work. I’m looking forward to another fun year and again on behalf of your Board, Assignors, and myself welcome to the 2006 season!

Regards,

Terry
