2003 Board of Directors Election
AT the CCFOA meeting of October 20, elections were held for three Board spots. Brett Marshall was chosen to be Vice-President (President-Elect for 2004),Dave Jurkiewicz was re-elected as Secretary for a two year term, and current President Steve Corrigan ran unopposed to be the 2003 Member-at-Large. Ryan McKeon will be Treasurer next year fulfilling his two-year term and Mark Ernst will move up to be President from his -present position as Vice-President. W are all confident that next year’s Board will acquit itself in the same proficient fashion as this year’s Board concluded.

Swinging Gate
Foothill High School’s varsity runs a “swinging gate” for the point after with a new wrinkle. They still put ten men on one hash mark and a snapper on the other hash. In the past, if the swinging gate was employed, the snapper made a quick one continuous motion to one of the players among the ten. Now they put one of the ten in motion and hand off the ball to the man-in-motion as he comes by the snapper. This is legal if the hand off is a continuous motion from one hand of the snapper to the man-in-motion. It is not legal if the hand off goes from one hand to the other and then to the man-in-motion (i.e. right hand to left hand to the man-in-motion). If the two-handed relay takes place, it is a false start as it is interpreted that the exchange from one hand of the snapper to his other breaks up the continuous motion requirement.

Late Officials
Every effort should be made to be present at varsity games an hour before the scheduled start time and a half hour before other levels of games. However, due to traffic constraints this is not always possible. It is now Board policy that if an official is not at a game at least 15 minutes before game time, it is the referee’s choice as to whether or not that official works the game.

Missed Meetings
President Steve Corrigan restated and emphasized the following long-standing Board policy regarding missed meetings.: Any member who misses a meeting will be fined $25 regardless of the reason.
