JIM TOWNLEY
A charter member and one of the founding fathers of the CCFOA, Jim Townley, passed away earlier this month. Jim was early in his career a vice-principal at several Mt. Diablo Unified School District middle schools, and Subsequently, he was promoted to the central office as Director of Summer Institutes, a post he held for a number of years. His final assignment at retirement in 1986 was as Principal of Riverview Middle School where one of current officials, Dale Newhouse, was a staff member. In fact, Jim was responsible for encouraging Dale back in the early 60's to pursue an officiating career.

Jim Townley, as reminded by Bob Mendell, was accountable for the often used quote, "....a kick is a kick, is a kick , is a kick until possession is secured... " In the distant past before Dallimonti's, Jim's house was gathering place on Friday nights for liquid restoration and recap of games. If any one has information on Jim's surviving family members, please pass it on to Dan Leary.
